Jim Flagg, Lead Pastor
So glad you stopped by and are actually reading this bio. A little about me: I have been married to my High School Sweetheart, Mary, for 35 years and we have two wonderful sons, Josh and David, and David’s awesome wife, Allie. I have been appointed to serve with churches in the Texas Annual Conference since 1994 all over our covered area (East Texas, Coastal Plain, Houston Metro area). I love what I do (most of the time). My favorite spot on earth is with my family on the north shore of Kauai bobbing in the surf of Hanalei Bay… sorry I had to take a moment, but I am back now. I am working on my 6th year at Humble First Methodist and I so enjoy the people here. They have such a love for their community and serving as well as a deep faith in Jesus. If you are searching for a church, come by. I will try to give you something to think about in the worship service, but the very least you will be loved by the people. If you want to know more about me, give me a ring or email me.
Director of Wildfire Student Ministries
My name is Josh and I've overseen Student Ministries here at First Methodist Humble since the start of 2020. I'm from Houston, TX and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Before coming to First Methodist Humble, I worked with youth at the Boys and Girls Club, Lakeview Summer Camp, and as a Pastoral Intern at Cypress Trails United Methodist Church in Spring, TX. Other interests of mine are gaming on PC and Nintendo Switch, philosophy (got a minor in it!), history, and being Houston's #1 Chicago Cubs fan (don't worry, I also support my hometown 'Stros too). As Youth Director my goal is to lead young followers of Jesus to become young and passionate disciples.
Director of Communications and Worship Media
Born in Florida to a Navy family, I moved to Texas with my parents and three siblings when I was three. I grew up in Klein, attending Klein High School, where I learned to love music and the violin. I married Erik, my high school sweetheart, in 2001, and together we are raising 4 boys. Erik has been in full-time ministry for nearly 15 years, and is now attending seminary. I have been working in full-time ministry for nearly 4 years, and before that I was a teacher and a temporary stay-at-home mom. I feel closest to God when I am singing and playing my violin in worship. I love connecting people to Christ through media, music, and visual and graphic creativity.
Director of Caring Ministries
I have been a member of First Methodist Humble since 1975 and serving in ministry since 1977, when I began teaching Youth Sunday School, my first love in ministry. After serving as Youth Coordinator and Chair of Christian Education, I was invited to be Director of Children, Family and Adult Ministries, including Singles Ministry. I now serve as Director of Caring Ministries with focus on Prayer Ministry, my passion. I have loved every minute serving the church and caring for God’s people. I love spending time with my family, which has grown to include five great-grandchildren, and find much joy at the beach, walking in the woods, gardening, reading, writing, traveling with my sister and brother, sharing meals with special friends and playing with her beloved cat, Buddy.
I have been Facilities Coordinator at the church for over 7 years. My primary responsibilities are maintaining and repairing things at the church. I left for one year to pursue another opportunity before I came back. Before that, I lived in the Chicago area and have experience in management and retail development.
Pastor sobre el ministerio español
I started the Fuente de Vida congregation at First Methodist Humble in 2016. I was born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, into a Methodist family, in 1944. When I was 15 years old, I confessed Christ as my personal Savior. One year later, I decided to serve Him for life. I moved to Mexico City where I started preparing for Christian Ministry. While there, I met my sweetheart Evangelina, now a retired nurse, who became my wife in 1972 and my faithful co.mpanion ever since. I served the Lord in Mexico for several years in various capacities. After my education in both countries, I was ordained a minister in 1997. In Indiana I was involved in starting five congregations. In 2005, Eva and I moved to Houston, to join our three children where, after earning their college degrees, they were starting their careers and their own families: Ian, Eric, and Ruth have added nine grandchildren to the clan, all of them Texans.

A job transfer brought me to Humble in 1985. I became a member of First Methodist Humble in 1998, attending the early service in the Chapel. For several years I volunteered in the office assisting with Sunday School attendance. After retiring from my fulltime job with the telephone company in 2009, I started working part time as assistant to our music minister. Later, after the retirement of the church secretary, I took her position and became full time. Titles and methods of doing my job have changed but I continue to enjoy assisting the staff members in their different ministries. It gives me a chance to feel a part of the whole outreach of our church in the local community.
